What is telehealth psychiatry?
Telehealth psychiatry is mental health care delivered through secure, real-time video visits. Cedarview Health provides psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy by telehealth to patients ages 8 and older who are physically located in New Jersey, and in person at our office in Flemington.

Telehealth is not right for every situation. If your clinician determines that telehealth cannot adequately meet your needs, they will recommend an in-person visit at our Flemington office or a referral to a higher level of care.
Our telehealth services
Psychiatric evaluation and mental health assessment. A thorough clinical evaluation for conditions including anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and bipolar disorder.
Therapy and counseling. Evidence-based approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques.
Medication management. Your psychiatric provider works with you to develop a medication plan suited to your diagnosis, history, and goals, with ongoing monitoring and adjustment.
Ongoing follow-up. Regular visits to track your progress, review how treatment is working, and adjust the plan as needed.
In-person care at our Flemington office. Patients can be seen in person, and some care requires it. An in-person evaluation at our office is required before we start any Schedule II medication, including stimulant medication for ADHD, and at least once a year after that.
Who provides your care
Cedarview Health is a small, privately owned practice. Care is provided by clinicians individually licensed by the State of New Jersey:
Psychiatric providers are board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNP-BC), licensed as Advanced Practice Nurses by the New Jersey Board of Nursing, practicing in collaboration with a supervising psychiatrist. They conduct evaluations, diagnose, and prescribe.
Therapists are licensed or certified by the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.
You will know the name and credentials of your clinician before your first appointment, and you will see the same clinician over the course of your care.
Does Medicaid cover telehealth psychiatry in New Jersey?
Cedarview Health accepts NJ FamilyCare and Horizon NJ Health, along with Horizon BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare/Optum, and Cigna.
New Jersey Medicaid covers medically necessary outpatient behavioral health services, including telehealth psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and therapy. Coverage, benefit limits, and any cost-sharing depend on your specific plan. We verify your benefits before your first appointment and tell you what to expect.

How to get started
1. We verify your insurance. Our team confirms your coverage and explains any cost-sharing before your first visit.
2. You schedule an appointment. Call, text, or book online.
3. You attend your visit. A secure video appointment with your assigned psychiatric provider or therapist. You'll need to be physically located in New Jersey, on camera, and somewhere private.
4. You and your clinician build a treatment plan. Therapy, medication, or both, depending on what your evaluation shows.

Can I see a psychiatric provider online with Medicaid in New Jersey?
Yes. Cedarview Health accepts NJ FamilyCare and Horizon NJ Health for telehealth psychiatric care. We'll verify your specific plan's coverage before your first visit.
Is telehealth as effective as in-person care?
Research generally finds telehealth psychiatry and therapy comparable to in-person care for many common conditions. It isn't right for every situation, and your clinician will tell you if in-person care would serve you better.
Can I get ADHD medication through telehealth?
We evaluate and treat ADHD, and medication may be part of your treatment plan if it's clinically appropriate. Whether medication is prescribed is always your provider's clinical judgment after a full evaluation — we can't promise a prescription in advance. If a Schedule II stimulant is appropriate, we require an in-person evaluation at our Flemington office before starting it, and at least once a year afterward. This is stricter than what New Jersey and federal law require, and it's how we practice.
